Family History

Great stories to tell on both the Dale and Vopal sides of the family:

Dale
No one in the Dale family tree has a more interesting story or was more influential than Grandpa Dale.
In the 1920's, the Ku Klux Klan had a stranglehold on every aspect of life in Indiana.  The KKK controlled everything -- government, the courts, the police, even churches.  George R. Dale,  the publisher of a dinky newspaper, was possibly the most influential individual in destroying the power of the KKK.  Along the way, he needed pardons from both the President and Governor to stay out of prison.
Please take a look at Grandpa's story:
Grandpa certainly would have been proud of his son. Grandma threw a party when Dad went off to fight in World War II. Click here for videos or here for photos. Jack Dale Goes to War

Vopal
Katy Vopal has done an excellent job of investigating the Vopal family legacy.  This link opens her page in a separate window.  Explore deep enough, (hint: Betsy's grandfather was James F. Vopal) and you will find this picture of Betsy with her father, mother, and brother along with many other Vopal family photos.
